ELLA
Hi there. Ella is doing great. And yes
I kept her name. She is such a great
dog. Zoe (her new big sister) is
warming up to her. I have caught them
sleeping together very often! How cute
is that! She is doing very well with the
potty training thing. you are right,
she follows Zoe everywhere and does
whatever Zoe does. I keep her in a crate
at night - she is not to be trusted
yet!!!! Loves her little apartment.
She is such a joy! Thank you. I have
attached a picture my daughter took last
Sunday. Know Ella is very much loved
and gives equally as much love in
return. She is a blessing for me and
Zoe's life. Thank you for taking good
care of her!!! And by the way - she does
love to eat huh? Knows where the food
pantry is and often reminds me that she
needs more food...like treats!!!

Java (aka Julius Caesar)
and
Mocha (aka Mark Antony)
Are you ready for this? This is the
story about our Siamese Twins! Julius
Caesar (aka Java) and Mark Antony (aka
Mocha) arrived at their new home in a
genuine kitty way. They sang to us the
entire trip, even row-row-row-meow (in
harmony). Upon arrival, we released
them to the wild of our living room
where they began hunting, searching and
finding "kitty toys"! It took them
about 20 kitty-watch seconds to decide
this was their home and they began to
re-arrange things to suit their taste.
We were surprised to see them as the
kitty clowns....absolutely a full time
entertainment package including pause
for a stroke along their sleek long
backs. In less than one day, they
behaved as though they had been here
their entire life. They sleep with us,
eat with us, try to come-and-go with us,
and live on a lap (whichever one is
most available at the moment). We
simply can not get over their ability
to harmonize when it is dinner time.
They do everything together. If Mocha
decides there is something down the
hall to see, Java is right behind him.
At first, we thought we might name them
Al and Qaeda the terrorists, but decided
that they were merely inquisitive and
needed names to reflect their
hyperactive lifestyles, does coffee
suit them? They run, jump and play
practically non-stop. And, when they
do stop, they sleep curled up around
each other like the Ying/Yang symbol.
We never have trouble finding them. If
we find one, we will definitely find the
other very nearby. Mocha is part bat.
He climbs up on top of their kitty
condo, and hangs upside down from the
perch to play with a bungee hanging
toy. They get hours of play on this
device, and our faces are sore from all
the laughing we do watching them.
Meowma says every day, "we are the
luckiest people in the world", "how did
we ever get so lucky?". I am inclined
to agree. By the way...for those who
were worried about their weight...well,
here is a surprise. They LOVE to eat.
Mocha has gained something near a pound
(or maybe more) already (that is the one
previously called Boney Tony). Java, is
a little more reserved in his eating
habits and may have gained only 3/4 lb.
Not bad at all. They are healthy and
follow us everywhere we go in the
house. I can say with certainty, we
have found our babies for life and we
thank you all for making this possible.

p.s. Their
sister, LadyBug (a.k.a. Cleo) is
featured below.
|
Heidi (a.k.a. Cecily)
Heidi appears to be happy with her new
home. She is bit by bit taking ownership
of the house and yard. She has her couch
spot and pillow that she choose, and her
sleeping place in our bedroom. No cage,
she talked us out of that right away.
She is working on us to work out new
routines and is just a little love. When
my husband gets in from work he gets a
little song and dance from her it is so
cute. And after dinner she sings and
dances and goes to her leash for her
walk. We are working on getting her to
poop in the backyard before her walk.
She is getting more confidant in the
back yard, still doesn't like to stay
out by herself though. I found out
yesterday that she is petrified of the
garbage truck. We were out in the back
when the truck came by and she franticly
crawled up in my lap and tried to hide
herself. We are seeing a bit more
sparkle come to her eyes each day and
does she ever know how to work that
face. haha
 |
LadyBug (a.k.a. Cleo)
LadyBug (aka Cleo) is doing great. She
is fully integrated into the household
as of Wednesday and gets along with
all. Boogie, our ebony smoke Oriental
Shorthair, is trying to get her to play
with him and the two have slept together
on Jerry's lap. I have pictures of that
which I will send when I've downloaded
them. LadyBug and Gyro the dog will lie
together on the couch and she has no
problem with the other two cats that
pretty much ignore her. She talks
incessantly but we don't mind a bit.
LadyBug still has some food issues, she
will eat only Fancy Feast Beef and
Gravy. We hope to change that over
time but she is still a little too thin
so we won't press it. She is a joy and
we are really lucky to have her.

p.s. Her
brothers, Mocha (a.k.a. Mark Antony) &
Java (a.k.a. Julius Caesar) are featured
above. |
Paige (a.k.a. Mia)
Paige is doing
wonderfully and I am absolutely
delighted with her. She is a perfect dog
and my other 3 took her into the pack
immediately. (I've renamed her Mia
because she's Italian.) Mia and Daisy,
my 2 year old dachshund, play together
so well you'd think they were litter
mates, and all four nap together on the
same quilt. Whoever her original owners
were did an OK job with her because she
rides well in the car and walk perfectly
on a leash. She sleeps cuddled up under
my arm with her head on my shoulder all
night - almost nose to nose. I'm not
sure how much longer that can continue
though - I'm a little creaky in the
morning. Thank goodness she likes her
sweater, because I've learned that
Italian Greyhounds dislike cold weather
even more than dachshund. We're going
to Petco today to get her a jacket.

Razzle (a.k.a. Rozok)
NOTE: Razzle is a special kitty
who was a member of our
Lonely Hearts
Club for over a year until her
perfect home came along!
Razzle
(who I’ve nicknamed “Rozok”- a Slovak
bread) is such a wonderful addition to
my household. While Razzle (on the
right) isn't your typical lap cat,
(already have one of those) she is a
very loving kitty- especially in the
bathroom of all places! If you keep her
out, she will meow and shove her paws
under the door to get in and be petted!
Razzle spends her day either on the
couch, sleeping under the bed, or in the
window “talking” to other cats/birds in
the neighborhood. She is doing a
wonderful job putting up with her
brother cat, CJ, who is very curious
about her. The two cats keep each other
plenty company. Thank you so much for
allowing me to adopt Razzle. She is a
member of the “Lonely Hearts Club” no
longer!

Simon (a.k.a. Einstein)
NOTE: Einstein and his two
siblings were tossed from the window of
a moving car when they were quite young.
Fortunately, all of the kittens survived
and were adopted into loving homes.
However, Einstein's left eye scraped the
pavement and eventually had to be
removed.
Please let our foster family know
that "Einstein" the siamese who lost one
eye is doing well. We recently received
your card celebrating his one year
adoption. He has been a wonderful
addition to our home. Our other cat did
took time to get him to know him, but
has adjusted well and she is leaner due
to more playtime with him. Einstein is
now called Simon (short for siamese).
Here is a picture that demonstrates his
health, he is a big boy now!

|
Lola (a.k.a. Genie)
Genie
(now called Lola) is
doing great. She and
Aspen have become friends
quickly. They love to
play and run in the
backyard.

Jett
I can't begin to tell
you how much we are
enjoying having
"little man"
Jett around. It is
amazing how quickly he as
fit into our family.
Besides being adorable,
he is quite comical. He
and our other dog, Penny
are getting along just
fine. Thank you again for
allowing our family to
adopt Jett as we love him
very much.

Lillypad
I wanted to send a
belated thank you for the
new member of our family.
Over the summer one of
our dogs had a broken toe
that needed a lot of
attention and in the end
had to be amputated. This
meant we were in the
vet's office about once a
week for about a month or
more. While there we met
a very loving little girl
named Lillypad. The
kittens up for adoption
came and went, but for
some reason Lilly stayed.
She was even a member of
the Lonely
Hearts Club. My
husband and I decided to
adopt her on the
condition that she and
our two German shepherd
mixes get along and my
allergies weren't too
bad. That was in August.
Now I can't imagine life
without her. She
completes our family. My
dogs took some getting
used to her, learning to
understand that they
can't chase her and even
though they try to share
the tug-of-war rope she
is not interested. She
and my little girl (Abby,
the one who lost the toe)
share one side of the bed
at night with Abby
warming my legs and Lilly
curled up next to my
torso. My husband and I
are left to fight for the
other side of the bed.
Lilly has even been
caught
"accidentally"
cuddling up to Abby.
Lilly will sit in my lap
while I work at the
computer, teases the dogs
by zipping around the
house as fast as she can,
and talks to us to let us
know she is hungry. She
will follow me around the
house and hangs out with
the family in the living
room now. She has her
place on the couch with
the other animals (and
sometimes humans). Her
grandpa even built her
some carpet covered
shelves so she has
something to climb on and
a place to relax. I could
go on for pages on how
cute she is. Everyone is
getting along perfectly,
and there has been no
problems with allergies
at all. Lilly is now
extremely spoiled. :) We
are grateful for the
chance to give her a
loving home and want to
thank you for all you do
to find loving homes for
others like Lilly.

Happy
Gotcha Day to ME!
Happy
Gotcha Day to ME!
Happy
Gotcha Day to
Dickens!
Happy
Gotcha Day to ME!
Can you believe it? It
was one year ago today
that I was adopted by my
Mom and my kitty siblings
(under protest they say.
What does that
mean?). Heres
me when I first came home
with Mom

Lots have
happened since that day.
Im housetrained now
(though I really
dont see why
thats such a big
deal). I went to class to
learn how to act like Mom
and other people think I
should act. I even passed
a test and became an AKC
Canine Good Citizen. Mom
says that, even though
the first 6 months were
rough with me, shes
glad she has me and
Im not going
anywhere (should I
believe her or the
cats?). Here I am
today

Arent I just the
most handsome Italian
Greyhound? Thank you,
Coppell Humane Society,
for taking me in when I
didnt have a home!

Cedric and Emmett
I thought
you might want a little
update on Cedric and
Emmett. They are doing
wonderful and they have
gotten SO BIG. It is hard
to believe they are
almost a year old
(February). Emmett is
about 75 lbs. now and
Cedric is about 90lbs.
They are wonderful joys
to Matt and I and they
are such great guard
dogs. They have learned
some basic commands
including "go
pee" and "go
poop" and of course
sit, stay, and quiet. We
plan to do more involved
training with them soon
though. Emmett has
learned how to fetch and
return but Cedric is
still a little rusty on
it. They are both such
lovers and we couldn't be
more happy with them.
Each day we love them
more and more. They had a
wonderful 1st Christmas
with presents that
included numerous dog
toys, chew toys and their
stockings included bones,
pig's ears and dog
biscuits and more
carrots. Matt and I are
excited for spring to
come because we want to
take the boys camping
with us. Well I just
wanted to give you a
small update on them and
I have sent a picture of
them.

Chibi-Chan
I hope that
maybe you remember my
husband and I from Petco
Adoption Day in
Carrollton. We adopted
little 'Delta' the Rat
Terrier mix. I have
attached a photo of her.
We named her Chibi-Chan
(the i is pronounced like
an e in Japanese). My
father was in the Navy
and I spent 6 years as a
child in Japan. Chibi
means 'littlest one or
runt' and Chan is the
female form of a word in
that language....hence,
we have our 'Littlest
Girl'. She is a joy and
never ceases to delight
and amuse us. Thank you
so much for making this
happen. She has made
herself a special place
in our home and hearts.
Our other two girls have
grown quite fond of
her...Especially our
Mini-Schnauzer Gracie.
They spend hours playing
together and chasing each
other. Thanks again for
our wonderful little
Chibi-Chan. We will love
and adore for years to
come.

Odie
Odie is
settling in and we are
already so taken with
him. He is such a great
dog! He's a little less
anxious every day and
seems to be anticipating
the routine of our house.
This weekend we've taken
him to the dog park a few
times and to some stores,
the dog wash, etc.
I think all the going and
coming back to our house
has made him feel more
secure. 2 days a week we
are gone 5-6 hrs. Last
Wed I worked at home. We
were gone up to 3 hours
Wed night and he was
fine. Then Thurs we were
gone 6 and he had
separation anxiety- a lot
of chewing. We're going
to have him at day care
on the long days, until
he's ready. Meanwhile
we're doing a lot of
practice going and
coming, getting ready to
go, etc. Got some chew
toys and some treat
hiding toys. I can tell
he's more relaxed already
and it won't be long
before his anxiety eases.
He's learned down and
stay already. He's
learning to heel on
leash. He's a fast
learner & I think
that maybe by next year
he will ready to go to
work with me
occasionally. He's so
mild mannered and loves
everyone. He sleeps on
his bed in our bedroom
very soundly. He says hi,
big lick!

Griffin
Griffin
holds a very special
place in the hearts of
CHS volunteers. He
was a member of our Lonely
Hearts Club because
he was in foster care for
so long. BUT, when
the right home comes
along, it's magical!
From Griffin's new
family: Kitty boy
is now running the
household. He calls to
tell me when the dog
wants in from the
backyard. He howls to say
it's time to stop
watching the Today Show
and get dressed for work.
He makes another
announcement when it's
time to leave for work -
that's when he gets a
treat - tho I'm sure he's
just trying to keep me on
schedule. He announces
bedtime which for him is
also a
"playtime".
Since the 3 of us sleep
together, he's handy when
he gives the morning
wake-up call! If
that doesn't have the
desired effect, he
play-bites my toes. Just
wanted you to know we
couldn't make it without
him. He is much loved and
greatly
treasured. Anna

Will and Peck
Well, while our family
has always had cats, I
was a dog lover. My best
and most loyal friend was
my Lab, Caper. When she
left this earth, she took
a very large portion of
my heart with her. So,
with the brilliance of a
non-cat person, I
reasoned that the two
black cat brothers who
were being fostered by my
daughter would offer the
companionship I needed,
without the depth of
involvement I was simply
not ready to offer after
the loss of my dog. You
know
a deal that
would work for both me
and the cats. And, I was
right
it took
almost a week before they
had pawed their sneaky
way into my heart. I
named them after my
Grandfathers... William
Floyd (Will) and James
Fenton (Peck). Will and
Peck are, I know, very
happy here. And I am a
very lucky person to have
them as friends.

Tito
Tito (formerly
Filbert) was a very shy
little guy when in foster
care. But he's
thrived in his new
home.
Here's what his new
family has to say about
him: "Tito is
a total angel. We've
never played a single
trick on him - or teased
him, I mean. So he's all
sweetness and innocence
-- not at all jaded. He's
still pretty light, maybe
10 pounds at the most,
I'm not sure. He and
Boone are still
completely in love, he
follows Boone everywhere.
He even comes out to
visit when we have people
over - he's come so far!
We love him so
much!"

Beijing
I think his debut is a
success. They are getting
along pretty good
already. Everyone sniffs
noses. Percy just turns
away but he did play a
little bit with Beijing.
Ringo <see below,
another happy adoption
tail> and he have
played all weekend
chasing each other and
rough housing. Ringo has
made it clear who is
dominant so I've had to
separate them several
times as he is 3 times
bigger than little bits.
I'm keeping them apart at
night for a few more
nights just to allow a
slow adjustment and good
nights sleep for all. But
there have only been a
few hisses and swats.
Beijing is such a sweet
kitty and does not seem
fearful. He already knows
his name and comes when
called. He and Ringo are
on the desk with me now
"helping me
work". This should
get interesting having 2
that want on the desk
when I work. He's
talking, lying on the
floor like a dog,
touching my face, getting
in my lap, playing with
the shoe string and toys,
and seems happy and
content in his new home.
He loves to be petted, is
very gentle, and is
already getting
"belly rubs" so
he feels safe. I laid
down to rest Saturday and
I had 3 on the bed
napping. I was afraid
Ringo would be
territorial of the bed
but so far he's not. I'm
thrilled that I adopted
him. He's already getting
longer. I'll keep you
posted on his progress.

Brody
I can't
begin to tell you how
lucky we are to have
Brody in our lives. He
has added so much to ours
through his loyalty and
affection he shows toward
us everyday.

Scamp
Hi, my
name is Brigetta B.
Almost two years ago, my
daughter and I adopted a
kitten from you. His name
was formerly Billy Ray,
but my daughter
christened him Scamp.
Scamp was extremely
difficult to litter box
train, possibly due to
the fact that our home is
two stories with the
litter box upstairs. At
one point, I thought we'd
have to return him
because it was such a
severe problem. I even
called and spoke to
someone regarding his
return, but I couldn't
bring myself to do it. We
stuck with it, and today
he is a very cherished
and beloved part of our
family. He plays and
frolics with our dog
Brownie, who seemed to
think that we had brought
home a kitten for HIM. :
) And Scamp's loving
behaviors have made a new
cat out of our older
feline, Simba. He is
really loved by the whole
household, and we feel so
lucky to have him. Thank
you for the work that you
do to find these animals
good homes. I appreciate
organizations like yours
in a way for which there
are no words. You are
good people doing good
work in the world, and
you've made such in
indescribable difference
in the lives of countless
animals. THANK YOU.

Benjamin and Willie
"My parents
are in love with those
kittens. My mom is
knitting them baby
blankets to wrap up in,
which they LOVE.
Benjamin is definitely my
dad's cat. He loves
sitting at the computer
and help push the
buttons. He also
likes sitting in his lap
while he reads or watches
TV. Willie has
become a little
"hunter
gatherer". He
has been known to steal
everything from
paintbrushes to dinner
rolls. Nothing is
safe in the wake of
Willie!"

Chug
This adorable
Chihuahua and pug mix was
adopted by a family with
2 children. His
"daddy" came to
a mobile Adopt-a-Pet and
announced that Chug was
the "most
beautiful" dog he
had ever seen (everyone
else thought he was a
"fat
Chihuahua").
Bound to be running the
household by now.
Beauty is in the heart of
the beholder. Chug
has a beautiful soul and
brindle body. Chug
found his perfect family.

Honey
Honey
was featured in our last
newsletter. She was
adopted by a midlife
couple who also have an
older "mix" dog
and a cat. They
have a home in Carrollton
and a farm in east
Texas. Honey goes
wherever they go and
loves to play with the
grandkids. Super
home for a super dog.

Ringo
"Ringo
( formerly known as
Jean-Luc) will be 2 years
old in July and is a lean
but sleek 11-pound cat
now. It's like
picking up a sack of
bricks to carry him
around. He is
quieter now but will
always be a vocal
cat. He is such a
wonderful, loving
cat. He lays on my
desk behind the computer
when I work at home - I
don't know why he doesn't
burn up!! But he
helps mama work except
when I print
something. He is
convinced there is an
animal in the printer
that is out to hurt me
and tries to stop the
page from printing if I
don't grab him. He
is still very willful and
'no' still doesn't mean
anything."

Oscar
Oscar
was adopted by a single
woman who needed a doggy
friend. He is
totally spoiled and
enjoying every minute of
his time. Although
his eyes had to be
removed, he sees the
kindness offered by his
new home and the love he
gets from his new mom.

Ernie
"Ernie
is definitely
happy! When I get
home, he is waiting right
inside the door, ready to
rub on my legs and tell
me how horrible it was
not to be petted for a
few hours. Ernie
loves to be there the
moment you wake up, with
his paws around your neck
and a little nibble on
your chin"
